Phillipians 3:14

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Saturday, January 30, 2010 made this card for the Split Coast Inspiration Challenge today.  The "Zen card holder"  was what I chose to create from.  I have not done too well on these challenges in the past....mainly because I tried to hard to exactly imitate the image that was the inspiration.  I continue to learn, grow and develop as a person and a stamper--which means staying true to myself.  I think today is a much better representation of taking an idea and making it my own.  I am happy with it and am so thankful to God for each day that He gives me...and for the provision for this crafting outlet.  Thanks for stopping by!

Warm Hearts

This week the PPA challenge was anything using appropriate for this weekends winter storm weather!  Cold wintery weather is the best kind for snuggling with the one you love.   That's my plan anyway!  TLF ;-)***I should note that I was posting this fast on my way out the door earlier today, and was relying on my husband's report that we would be having a winter storm system coming through with sleet, etc.  Looks like it's only rain....we'll still snuggle ;-).

God's beautiful handwriting

I did this card for a dry embossing technique challenge.  It is a clean and simple card that actually only took me about 5 minutes....that's a first!  It took a lot longer to try and get a decent picture...I need to take a camera class!  The image is from the of the earth set and the sentiment is  from God's Beauty (ret).  The colors are Old Olive, Cameo Coral, and Regal Rose...soft suede on the body of the butterfly.  The best part of this card (for me) is that I got to use this gorgeous ribbon I picked up yesterday.  TFL!

Asian Artestry
I made this card for a sketch challenge at Split Coast.  I LOVE this stamp set and haven't used it...go figure.  Any-hoo, I used not quite navy, old olive and soft suede for the color combo.  I like it, but when I posted dimensions seem to be different from the rest even though I thought I came pretty close to the sketch.  I am still very much a novice compared to many of the awesome artists posing as stampers on the web.  I am OK with that!  TFL

Today's card was made for a color challenge at CPC using Teal, Kraft and White.  It is not exactly what I wanted (as per usual for me), but I was determined to "make it work".

I also have been organizing my craft space a little better and hopefully now my creative juices will flow more freely!

Thanks for looking and have a blessed day ;-)!

Valentine or anytime

Anytime is a good time to say I love you. I know that the flower doesn't qualify this for a truly masculine card...but I can't help myself.  I am so blessed to be married to someone who expects me to be girly...and just loves anything I give him because it comes from the heart.

Thanks So Much

In making this card, I got to use some of my favorite things!  The patterned paper is from a K&Co pad that I've had for a while (and love).  I picked up these wacky "googly eyes" yesterday with the express purpose of pairing them with this owl came out just like I hoped.  Together, I think they makes this a happy card that brings a smile to my face.  I hope it does to yours as well.  Happy stamping...gotta love it ;-)!

For You

Just a quick card using some coordinating paper and flower cut outs that I have had for a while.  I layered it with Certainly Celery and Chocolate Chip card stock, added the sentiment from the one of a kind stamp set, and topped it off with a couple of rhinestones and a satin ribbon.   Between the power outage last night and a ton of errands today...a quick and easy card was the best I could do!

Bee Happy

This is a card for today's Mojo122 challenge.  I used a kraft base, pattern paper from TPC studio and recollections layered with bashful blue, basic black and whisper white. I used my sewing machine again since it was out.  The bee stamp is from recollections and the Happy is fromt the SU Happy Everything set. Two small dasies from sizzix die held with a cordory brad and gingham ribbon complete the card.  The camera did not pick up the glitter on the wings because I was trying to hard to capture the bright colors of the card.  My lighting and camera are all off.  I hope to fix that sooner than later because some of my cards are SO much better in person!  Anyway, I  hope the end result is a fun and happy card.  TFL!

Thoughts of you....

Today's card hopefully meets the requirements of two challenges for clean and simple, & color challenge using teal.  This is a Hero arts cling stamp stamped with black ink and clear embossed with the sentiment from whimsical words.  I added a die cut butterfly from the new sizzlits set to cover up a boo-boo!  I layered a scalloped border and finished with the crushed curry polka dot ribbon.

Love Birds

YEAH...I finally had the nerve to break out my sewing machine for today's card.  It is bad enough to buy one for the purpose of card making...then not to use it is really wrong!  The sewing is crooked, but I love it anyway.  I just love these little birds too and have been itching to ink them up.  I used real red and creamy caramel with some dsp for interest.  I added some linen thread and this sweet button I picked up at the craft store the other day to finish.  Overall, I have to say I am very happy with this card, hope you like it too :0)!

This is a variation of the card I made for my upline swap last night...the picture does not show it, but I used the glimmer mist on the completed flower so that it has a really pretty sparkle irl.
I used the new sweet pea dsp and pretty in pink from Stampin UP.  The sentiment on the front is retired (but I love it) and the one on the inside I just purchased which has several inspirational sayings.
I do count myself to be blessed beyond my ability to express....but I hope to have an attitude of gratitude!
Thanks for stopping by, and I pray that YOU are blessed today...or more importantly that you take the time to realize that you are!!

Refuge & Strength

Today's card was made for the Christian Paper Crafts Bible Verse Thursday challenge to use any thing with Doves.  I immediately thought of the dove sent from Heaven to rest on Jesus' shoulder immediately following His baptism....and how because of His obedience unto death we have the indwelling Holy Spirit to guide, comfort and strenthen us in our daily walk with the Lord.  I even wanted to depart from my normal bright and girly style because there is nothing cute about the crucifixion of Christ....but the depth of love demonstrated there is beauty beyond compare.
I used the soot technique on glossy white card stock and cut out the main image with a deckled edge nestability.  Then layered with sarhara sand, basic black onto a sahara sand base stamped randomly  with the inside verse.  A punched dove popped on top with a glue dot to finish.  The inside was stamped with Sarah Sand and the verse with Black.
I CAN make a masculine husband loved it!  Thanks for looking.

Split Coast Sketch Challenge 263

This is my first every Split Coast Sketch Challenge....I tried one other Friday Sketcher one, but wasn't savvy in how to upload the card correctly etc.  Anyhoo, I just love this punch from Martha Stewart called love dove :-).  The sentiment is from my new kom from Lizzie Ann stamps.  The paper is Bo Bunny that I picked up at the local scrap book store and the base and ribbon are SU certainly celery.  The word label and modern label punch were used for the sentiment and a Sizzix tag die for the bird backdrop.   A few pearls and that's it.  All of the lovey-dovey (pun intended) stamps and cards usually turn out quite feminine....I need to work on "manning up" a little on the love cards!!!  Thanks for looking :-).

Thank You

I purchased this hero arts cling stamp a while back, and decided to pull it out for a much needed thank you card for my mother-in-law. I am not sure that I love the color combo here, but they are bright and cheerful and so is she! She was an awesome host over the Christmas holidays and I count myself blessed to be able to have such a good relationship with her!

I finally had the change to play with some of the new stamps and paper I have! It is also the first time I have used the sizzix texture plates. I am really happy with how this one turned out soft and pretty, but the CC paper border keeps it from being washed out. TFL!

I am finally back into the swing of things and ready to post some new cards...yeah! This is for Mojo Monday 121. I am so blessed to have a husband that is perfect for me in every way...this may go in his lunch bag tommorrow ;-). TFL!
